Genuine Silver Powder for Kintsugi (0.5 g) - Food safe
$12.00
Silver powder (0.5 g) for kintsugi, a Japanese technique used to mend broken pottery with gold. This gold powder can be used instead of gold powder to beautifully highlight the cracks of your items repaired with kintsugi.
We recommend using this powder in combination with our kintsugi kit ”TSUGUKIT”.
This silver powder is certified as food safe. You can thus use it a finishing layer on pieces of tableware.
■ Product details:
- 1x 0.5 g of silver powder
- 1x silk ball (It should be used to dust gold powder over the repaired cracks)
■ What is kintsugi?
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold. The broken pieces are first put back together using Japanese lacquer, also called “urushi.” The lacquer is then dusted with gold powder. It is estimated that the kintsugi repair technique was developed during the Muromachi period (1336–1573 CE). At the time, the art of kintsugi was often used to repair ceramics used in the tea ceremony.
Rather than hiding the cracks, kintsugi highlights them with gold or other metallic powders such as silver or platinum. Items repaired with kintsugi become more precious than before they were broken and they can even turn into real pieces of art.
